Half Finished: A Book Review | #TeaAndWord #172
Half Finished by Lauraine Snelling is a Christian fiction with a sprinkle of romance. While I realize reviews are subjective, I wanted to give you my most honest thoughts of this. And for those of you who have been praying for my daughter this summer, thank you.
The hospital photos will key you in on just how long it's taken me to finish books and write the reviews. I do apologize for the delay. I am trying to receive grace over my life and not be so annoyed with myself these days, at my slower pace with finishing things (humor there, Snelling's book title and all).
Half Finished would make a good read for those at least 30 and over, but that is just my opinion. This story is charming, with an emphasis on details and dialogue.
Keep reading for more thoughts...
The author writes in multiple POV's per chapter, but doesn't seem to follow a certain order. It did make for quite the challenge however, because I was not able to read it in one sitting, or even in the span of a few days, I had a difficult time remembering where I was (and with whom).
With faster paced books, I have a harder time setting them aside and seem to hold more in my mind. With this book I did not experience the thrill I am used to, but I do not think Snelling's focus are on thrills.
Her stories are heart-warming with faith intertwined. I do think if there were less POV's I may have enjoyed it more, but it could just be me and the way my brain works, and my personal taste.
Why Should I Read This?
Don't let my experience deter you. I thoroughly think this book would interest some of you, which is why I wanted to review it! It would make a relaxing vacay read, or travel companion for when you have down time.
If any of you love knitting, you may adore it even more, but I won't give too much away.
For extra fun, I picked a favorite part from the book, "halfway" through.
"Big dog? Little?" Loren asked.
Roxie winced. Please don't say a yapper.
You know a book is good when it has pets in it, right?
While Half Finished is less slower paced than what I am used to, it was a nice read and might be exactly what some of you are looking for. Not everyone wants a nail-biter. Sometimes we just want to lay in the hammock and know it's all going to be okay.
Half Finished would be one for a mom, daughter, or both. This would be safe for church shelves (not sure if safe is the right word but you get my point).

I received my copy of Half Finished from Faith Words, in exchange for my honest review.
